Wild Blueberry Latte 1 - Olivia Adriancea

This Homemade Wild Blueberry Latte is naturally sweetened, and the homemade blueberry syrup is made with just five ingredients.

The subtle sweetness and fruitiness of the blueberry syrup pairs really well with the rich, bitter coffee notes.

The syrup comes together in under 10 minutes, and you can use frozen wild blueberries.

Ingredients for Homemade Wild Blueberry Latte - Olivia Adriance
  • Wild Blueberries: Frozen blueberries are a standby in my freezer for yogurt bowls, smoothies, and now this blueberry syrup! If it’s blueberry season, go ahead and use fresh blueberries!
  • Lemon Juice: A bit of lemon juice will brighten up the flavors and add just the right amount of acidity.

  • Honey: Our natural sweetener of choice here. Maple syrup would also be incredible.
  • Salt: A touch of salt for the perfect salty-sweet balance.
  • Vanilla Extract: Pure vanilla extract complements the tart blueberries nicely.

How to Make Blueberry Syrup and Wild Blueberry Latte

To make the blueberry syrup, bring the wild blueberries (fresh or frozen), water, lemon juice, honey, and salt to a rolling boil and cook for 10 minutes. Stir in the vanilla extract in the final minute.

Remove from the heat and allow to cool. Strain through a fine mesh sieve.

Store the syrup airtight in the refrigerator.

To make an iced latte, pour enough ice into a glass and add 2 tablespoons of blueberry syrup. Next, add milk of choice, followed by the espresso shot. Stir and enjoy!
