Frozen strawberries are grated on top of a dairy-free iced matcha latte — it adds just the right amount of natural sweetness to this summertime drink!

I’m so excited to share with you my Strawberry Shaved Ice Matcha Latte. It’s fruity, sweet, and a really pretty drink that will brighten up any warm and sunny afternoon.
Up until a few years ago, I was a coffee lover! I drank double espresso lattes daily, despite feeling anxious and jittery.
As a one-month experiment, I decided to give matcha a try and I haven’t looked back since!
I’m always trying to find a new person to convert to matcha (my assistant Chelsea was hesitant at first, but she’s gotten on board now).


Grating frozen strawberries on top of an iced matcha latte adds a bit of sweetness and fruitiness that pairs so well with the grassy, earthy matcha.
If you’re new to matcha, I’d suggest adding a bit of sweetness from honey or maple syrup. The addition will allow you to enjoy the drink even more as you get used to the matcha taste.

Ingredients for Strawberry Matcha Latte
Grab your matcha tools and these few ingredients! Here’s what you’ll need for the perfect afternoon treat!

- Matcha Powder: The higher the quality, the more delicious it will be. Look for a ceremonial-grade matcha powder that is vibrant in color and smooth in consistency. I tend to rotate through a few of my favorite brands (@piquelife is always in my cabinet) and recently did a Matcha Taste Test to sample a bunch of popular varieties.
- Cold Water: You’ll use this when mixing the matcha powder.
- Creamy Vanilla Cashew Milk: You can use any type of nut milk or regular milk if you aren’t dairy-free. I make a big batch of my Creamy Vanilla Cashew Milk at the beginning of the week to enjoy in my matcha lattes all week long!

Pin It- Frozen Strawberries: That’s right, we’re using real strawberries here for the most authentic flavor! You want *frozen* strawberries here so you can shave them on top of the latte.
- Honey: If you like a sweeter beverage, add a bit of honey or even maple syrup.
Step by Step Instructions for the Best Strawberry Shaved Iced Matcha Latte
I’ve perfected how to make a matcha latte. Here’s how to do it!
First, add the cold water to a small glass or bowl. Spoon the matcha powder through a fine mesh sieve to break up any clumps.


With a bamboo matcha whisk, whisk the matcha into the water in a front-to-back motion until slightly frothy on top. If you don’t have a matcha whisk, you can use a hand-held frother.
If you’re using honey or another sweetener, add it to the matcha mixture and whisk again.


Then, add ice to your serving glass. Slowly, pour in your matcha and top with the non-dairy milk.
Using a zester, shave the frozen strawberries on top. Stir, sip, and enjoy!

- 1 teaspoon matcha powder
- 3 ounces cold water
- ⅓ cup Creamy Vanilla Cashew Milk
- 2 frozen strawberries
- Honey for sweetness (optional)
Instructions
- To make your latte, add the water to a small glass or bowl.
- Spoon the matcha powder through a fine mesh sieve to break up any clumps.
- Whisk the matcha into the water in a front-to-back motion until slightly frothy on top.
- If using honey or other sweetener, add the honey to the matcha mixture and whisk again.
- Add ice to your serving glass.
- Pour in your matcha and top with milk.
- Using a zester, shave your frozen strawberry overtop.
- Stir and enjoy!
