Creamy Dairy Free Holiday Nog - Olivia Adriance

Traditional eggnog is made with eggs, milk or heavy cream, sugar, nutmeg, and sometimes bourbon.

This healthified Creamy Dairy-Free Holiday Nog recipe is naturally sweetened and free of dairy and eggs, making it enjoyable for just about anyone coming to visit you during the holiday season.

While there are a few dairy-free and vegan egg nogs available in the store, I’ve found that many of them are filled with unnecessary additives.

My vegan holiday nog just requires blending a few ingredients and will taste so much better than anything you can buy at the store!

I suggest making a batch of this nog and using it anywhere you’d use nut milk.

Cozy oatmeal made with holiday nog is extra indulgent, or like my husband Kyle, add it to your morning latte for a delightful beverage.

No matter how you want to enjoy it, I hope this Creamy Holiday Nog brings you as much joy as it does for me.

Ingredients for Non-Dairy Eggnog

Merrymaking is only a few ingredients away. Here’s everything you’ll need to get in the holiday spirit.

Ingredients for Creamy Dairy Free Holiday Nog - Olivia Adriance
  • Raw Cashews: This makes for an extremely creamy beverage. Be sure to soak them for at least 4 hours beforehand. See my Notes below if you’re allergic to cashews.
  • Water: The base of the nog is water. Easy enough!
  • Coconut Cream: This is the extra thick layer from the top of a chilled can of coconut milk. Scoop it out and add it straight to the blender. Use the leftover milk for smoothies and baked goods.

  • Maple Syrup: Add as much as your heart’s desire. It is the holidays, after all!
  • Vanilla Extract: A teaspoon is all you need for another layer of deliciousness.
  • Salt: A touch will bring out all the natural sweetness.
  • Nutmeg: The holiday spice of all holiday spices, nutmeg has a warming, slightly spicy finish.
  • Cinnamon: One of my most beloved spices — especially during the holidays.

How to Make Vegan Eggnog

Ready to make some nog? Let’s do it!

The night before or at least 4 hours before making the holiday nog, soak your cashews. This will soften them up so they’re easier to blend.

After the cashews have soaked, rinse them in a strainer under cold water.

Add to a high-speed blender along with the water, coconut cream, maple syrup, vanilla extract, salt, nutmeg, and cinnamon.

Blend until the nog is super creamy and frothy.

Store in an airtight container such as a milk jar or glass. The Holiday Nog will last in the fridge for about a week AND it will get creamier as it sits!

Tips and Frequently asked questions for Dairy-Free Holiday Nog

Can I use a different nut if I’m allergic to cashews?

You can make this with soaked almonds as well. However, you’ll want to strain the mixture after it blends with a nut milk bag. Personally, a huge reason why I love homemade cashew milk so much is because you don’t need to go through the extra step of straining it.

Is it normal for the mixture to separate?

Yes! It’s completely normal for the cashew milk to separate as it sits. Just give it a good shake and you’ll be good to go.

Do you recommend drinking this hot or cold?

I’m an iced beverage girlie at heart, so I love to drink this cold. But you can heat it up if that’s what you prefer.
